My new teacher planner {Tried it Tuesday- Erin Condren!}

Hi!  I'm very excited to share this with you today!!!

I'm linking this up with my sweet friend Holly for

I'm sure at this point you have heard of the Erin Condren planners.  Of course, when I first heard about them I looked them up and thought WHOA that's expensive for a planner.  So, I pretty much just let it go, even though it looked sooooo nice.

Then, everyone started blogging about the great features and THEN she threw a Teacher Appreciation Sale.  I'm to the point where I rarely spend money on myself (3 children who need stuff constantly, I feel selfish when I do spend a lot on just me) but I felt like this would be a year long investment and my hope was that it would be so adorable organized that I would actually use it!

So, I did it.  I ordered one.

And last week it was sent to me!

We had gone out to dinner and we pulled up and I saw this!

The car wasn't even stopped and I was jumping out to get it.  I had gotten an email saying it was shipped and so I had been looking for it everyday.  I heard my daughter say, "Is that a birthday present for me?"

Her birthday is not until July 31st.  Not sure where that came from.  I said, "No, it's a present for ME!"

I guess my kids could see how excited I was because all 3 crowded around me while I opened it.  (I knew once I opened it they were gonna be like, whaaaaat?  It's a notebook!!  Why are you so excited??")

I tried to contain myself when I opened it.  But, I got too excited!

Erin Condren adds little touches that make it so fun! (I mean, because surely SHE packaged it herself just for ME!)  ;O)

So, the kids saw all this and walked away.  I have no idea why.

So, I go show it to my husband.  It went like this:

me- Look!  My teacher plan book came!!

him- <half smile>

me-  Look!!  How cute!  With my name on it and then it has all of these pages!! (I'm showing him the inside).

him-  <raised eyebrow, half smile, slight nod>

me-  Look!  It even has tabs that separates everything.

him-  You could make something like that.

me-  <sigh> I can even put my grades in here and it's all in one book so I don't have so many random pages everywhere.

him-  How much did that cost?

me-  Did I show you the dividers??? It's so exciting! (as I walk away)

Yeah.  He didn't get it.  I mean, he understood I was really excited, but he didn't GET IT.  So that's why I'm sharing it with YOU because I know YOU GET IT!!  You'll be excited WITH me!

Now, I did tell him that I was going to tell this story and he said, "What?? I'm glad you are so happy.  I was just saying, you could totally make something like that, too!"

Yes, I probably could.  In all of my spare time. (love him!!)  But I think I'll leave it to Erin Condren!!  ;O)

Now, I was worried that it wouldn't be everything that I had built it up to be.  But it was everything I had hoped and more!  I did have them add extra grading sheets (I counted out how many I'd need based on my classes) and a pen holder.  Oh, and 2 extra sheet protectors.  But that was all.  The rest is just the basic planner!

Now, I still haven't written in it yet...I just like to look at it right now...but I will write in it...soon...

So, if you are on the fence, maybe this knocked you over it.  It's worth it!
Amanda

PS- I have not been asked to do a review of any kind, this is just how I feel about the planner!

  1. Too funny! I would never have left the house after getting the email:). It looks fantastic! I would carry it with me and show it to random strangers! I want one, but it is irrational because I always type up my lesson plans....but it is soooo beautiful.

  3. I am rather obsessed with mine too. I brought it to work to show everyone that would listen. I have had it almost a month and just now wrote in it for the first time. I was so afraid to mess it up, but I use the frixion eraseable pens, so all is good!

  6. That looks so great! Our plans have to be done electronically, but if I could I would pick up one of those too. It is super cute! (My husband wouldn't get it either.)

  9. I LOVE Erin Condren!!! I'm waiting for my new Life Planner to arrive and it's killing me that its not here yet! I've been thinking about getting a teacher planner, but I'm not sure if I'd use it as much as I'd use one I create myself. But they're so stinking cute! Let us know how it works out for you when school starts up again. :)

  10. I'm glad you love it! I've had a life planner the past two years but I purchased the teacher planner for this coming up year. I usually make my own template so we will see how this works for me. Only thing is... I didn't order extra recording sheets... and I should have! Lesson learned. Enjoy :-)

  11. Love your conversation with your husband...mine was very similar! I don't think he understands my LOVE for office supplies, paper, etc. So glad you got your planner! I can't wait to write in mine! I take it out every few days and just look through it...we teachers are a quirky bunch, huh? :)

  15. I just got mine last Thursday upon returning home from my school's Family Picnic. I couldn't wait to inhale my dinner and break into the box. I am completely in love...and of course my mom and brother (whom I still live with) thought I was out of my mind. I finally wrote the dates in yesterday. So exciting! :o)

  17. Mine isn't set to ship for another week. :( I keep seeing important dates that I need to remember and then getting bummed because it isn't here yet!

I have crazily already made plans to go and buy myself a fresh set of Papermate Flair pens, just for the planner.

And it's not just husbands, my wife and I had a similar conversation too! She was like, "Well, I don't get why you can't just print out some calendars from google, but if you want it go ahead and get it." Sigh. I guess she doesn't have to "get it" as long as she doesn't mind that I do!

  19. I am so happy for you. I have a family like that too. I'll be so excited and they look at me like I am missing screw! That's what friends are for! Share in the excitement of what we enjoy as individuals! Happy planning!

  20. Very jealous of your planner. Very jealous that you got your husband to verbally respond to you when discussing school supplies, I think I could only hope for a few nods and un-huhs and vacant, glazed over eyes. I would be scared to write in it with permanent ink-even though colorful ink would look great. Enjoy!

  21. Ha, Ha, that conversation sounds a bit similar to mine with my hubby when mine arrived. I got the same style as you. SO EXCITED and I GET IT! :o)

  22. I love the excitement in your post! I totally get it because I too own and Erin Condren item...I own the "Life Planner!!" I haven't yet gotten the teacher one but have often thought about it. I literally got my planner in December (so I'd be ready to star the new year..) and am still o.b.s.e.s.s.e.d. with it! Truly how amazing is Erin Condren for making it genuinely seem like a present for us (with all the fun packaging?!!?

    Enjoy!

  23. Your post today is so funny! I imagine that is exactly the way I would react and EXACTLY the way my family would react! Too funny! I'm going to give these planners another look! Thanks for the unofficial review :-)

  24. I am so tempted to get this. The one thing that is keeping me from doing it is that as of right now, I complete my first set of plans for the year (with specials times, and the times that I do everything else) in it so I only have minimal filling in to do each week which saves me a lot of time. I keep it in a binder with the same lesson plan pages copied. I will have to think about it as this would be so much cuter and I would have the grade book built in:)

  25. AMAZING!! You could be a walking advertisement for Erin Condren! I need to seriously check this out now:) I am one of the few teachers that still makes a "hard copy" of grades because I like to see who owes what at a glance (my grade book is boring green though!). Most teachers just type everything in power school but don't keep a hard copy. I can't wait for summer vacay to start so I can "play" more with finding stuff like this!!

  26. It looks so pretty! We have to turn our lessons in via email so I got out of the habit of writing them. But your planner makes me want one!

  28. I am so glad I found your post. Yours is only the 2nd post I have found about Erin Condren's planners. Before today I had never heard of them. Of course when I do go to the website and get giddy over having to earn one, one of my colleagues agree with me... and I think "you should have told me sooner!" I so want one just because of the grade book addition. I'm not so used to the lesson planning section only because all of mine have to be digital, but I can learn to get used to it. I would love to just hold one in my hands (me, the visual/tactile person) just so I know what it really can do. But thanks for showing us planner friends, we are the ones who usually understand.:)

  29. Hahahaha! I love when you wrote how you haven't written in it yet and you just look at it instead. I've had mine since the beginning of June and haven't written a thing, but I look at it everyday. I'm too scared I'll mess up its beauty by writing in it!

  30. Am interested in how you are liking your planner? Is is what you thought it would be? I am wondering if I should order one for next year.
