Tried It Tuesday- Constitution Lesson Ideas

We are so excited to link up to our friend Holly's blog at Fourth Grade Flipper for her very first Tried It Tuesday!

Photobucket

So...I thought and thought about what I had tried that would be fun to share with you...and I decided I would share some ideas I tried as I taught the Constitution  (well I am STILL teaching it...I know I am sooooo far behind.....but I will catch up eventually, right?)

1.) Awesome book- We the Kids- my students LOVED it! What a GREAT way to teach the Preamble...

Product Details
2.) Schoolhouse Rock Video- The Preamble and the Constitution- it's a classic and if the kids sing along, they learn the whole preamble! :) (oh, and you can watch it for free on youtube! yay!!!)

3.) AND I AM GOING TO TRY...a website I found about Constitution Day...it has an interactive lesson and then a matching game for the students to play to review at the end. It is also divided by grade level like K-1, 2-3, and 4-5. This would be awesome to do as a whole class projected on the board or individually on student computers.
I hope you and your students can try some of these activities!

Happy Tuesday!

  1. Yay!! My very FIRST link up! This topic is perfect for me because we are studying the Revolution now (you are not as far behind as me!). The Declaration AND Constitution are still yet to be discussed in my class. I will be sure to check out these resources. That website looks easy to follow and I have never heard of it before!

Thank you so much for linking up bloggy buddies!!

  2. I've never heard of that website before, thanks for sharing! I will have to pass it along to the 5th grade teacher-she covers all the Constitution at my school.
